There are a number of wonderful parks in the Phoenix area. These are all great places for kids to play, for couples to picnic, for families to walk their dogs or bike.  If you are looking for an adventure outside your neighborhood park, head to one of these Phoenix area parks:

Freestone Park: Freestone Park in Gilbert has plenty of activities for the entire family. There’s a skate park, a number of basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, lakes to fish in, and even a miniature train for the little ones to enjoy. There are also plenty of grills, so pack a picnic!

Encanto Park: Encanto Park has been around for years and is one of the best places to take your kids. There are paddleboats for rent, playground structures, an Enchanted Island to enjoy, train rides for the kids and more. While there is an admission fee for this park, you can purchase an annual pass that will save you money in the long run.

Papago Park: Papago Park is a beautiful park full of red sandstone geological formations. You’ll also find the famous Hole in the Rock and Hunt’s Tomb, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is a gorgeous place to have a picnic because the views of the city skyline are amazing; it’s the perfect place to watch a sunset.

Dreamy Draw Recreation Area: Dreamy Draw is the perfect desert landscape. It is chock full of gorgeous views, miles of trails and plenty of picnic areas.

White Tank Mountain Regional Park: This park covers over 29,000 acres (which makes it the largest regional park in the US). It has 240 tables and grills (80 have cover) making it a fabulous place to picnic. It also has playgrounds, electrical outlets and bathrooms.

Tempe Beach Park: Tempe Beach Park is one of the oldest parks in Phoenix. It can be found on the south shore of Tempe Town Lake and is perfect for families and couples. There are grills, bathrooms, playgrounds, biking trails and more.
