Alhambra Traditional School (3736 W. Osborn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85019)

This school is part of the Alhambra Elementary School District. With a commitment to academic excellence, students are provided a caring educational environment where consistency and community support are key. The goals of Alhambra Traditional School include a strong academic focus, a safe and secure environment, a school-home partnership, and the development of respectful and self-motivated students.

G. Frank Davidson Elementary School (6935 W. Osborn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033)

This school serves the Maryvale community as part of the Cartwright School District. It was recently awarded the PBISAz Achievement Award as recognition for showing positive effects on discipline data. The vision at G. Frank Davidson is to create opportunities for all students to become academically proficient.

Joseph Zito Elementary School (4525 W. Encanto Blvd., Phoenix, AZ 85035)

As part of the Isaac School District, this K-5 school promotes responsibility and high expectations for students. Teachers and staff at Joseph Zito work to provide students the skills they need to successfully meet their academic and life goals. Led by principal Gerard Hernandez, this school received awards from the “Beat the Odds” institute in recent years.

Magnet Traditional School (2602 N. 23rd Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009)

This Phoenix Elementary School District K-8 campus is led by principal Adrian Walker. It has earned an “A” rating from the Arizona Department of Education and has been recognized in recent years for excellence in urban education. Magnet Traditional School is all about student success by means of full community collaboration.

Maryvale Preparatory Academy (6301 W. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033)

This is a tuition-free K-8 charter school that was opened in 2012 as part of Great Hearts Academy. Maryvale Prep is an excellent school for families who prefer a small community setting. Here, students wear uniforms and are surrounded by a culture that promotes core virtues. This culture encourages social and personal responsibility that will support students in their lives for years to come.

Peralta Elementary School (7125 W. Encanto Blvd., Phoenix, AZ 85035)

This is another Cartwright Elementary School District campus with excellent reviews. With a motto of “Celebrate! Motivate! Achieve!” Peralta is dedicated to promoting high academic and behavioral expectations for all students in a kind and nurturing setting. The administration also promotes parent-teacher collaboration in an effort to deliver consistency for student success.

Sunset Elementary School (6602 W. Osborn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85033)

Also a part of the Cartwright Elementary School District, Sunset School is recognized for earning an “A” rating for three consecutive years. Administration and staff have built a culture that nurtures student success by promoting a partnership made up of students, parents and the local community.

Tomahawk Elementary School (7820 W. Turney Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85033)

Our final elementary school recommendation also comes from the Cartwright Elementary School District. It is a K-5 school that prides itself in being a safe and welcoming environment for all students and families. They promote learning by doing, and help students make connections with things they find interesting.
