Best Music Venues in the Phoenix Area

Living in Phoenix affords you opportunities to take part in all sorts of cultural experiences, including seeing both world-famous and up-and-coming bands. Check out these options for the best music venues in the Phoenix area, from outdoor spots to intimate clubs.

The Desert Botanical Gardens

If you want to get the most out of Phoenix life then you’ll want to prioritize outdoor venues for much of the year. The Desert Botanical Gardens provide some truly incredible views and host bands in the spring and fall. You’ll see everything from lovely instrumental music to world beat to blues and even Celtic bands. This 400-person venue is especially beautiful at dusk.

Crescent Ballroom

Even if you don’t want to check out the music, the Crescent Ballroom is worth a visit on its own. It holds 550 people and is home to Cocina 10, a restaurant that features local, delicious flavors. There’s live music in this theater almost every day except Sunday, when you can visit to play trivia for some pretty impressive prizes. Most concerts are 16-and-up and the prices are very affordable.

The Nile Theater

Located in downtown Mesa, if you’re a fan of punk or hardcore music then you’ll love the Nile Theater. Though it was closed from 2002-2014, its storied past has included Radiohead and Oasis – before they were famous. This cavern-like venue hosts nationally-known bands as well as local groups just rising on the scene. There isn’t a liquor license in this spot, but there is a pretty incredible selection of in-house coffee mixes.

Chasers Bar & Night Club

It’s true that Chasers Bar & Night Club is located in Scottsdale, but it’s just a short drive from Phoenix apartments. Once home to the Atomic Café, today Chasers is host to hip-hop, punk, metal, and even some unique indie rock. If you want some serious music, this may be the spot for you.

ThirdSpace

ThirdSpace is another outdoor venue, where shows are held behind their bar and eatery. Concerts are a truly intimate experience and bands often perform during the day. There’s a unique collection of shops right behind this venue, and at night it’s a truly cozy experience. With bulbs twinkling overhead and a fire pit, there may be no more romantic spot to see music in the city.

Lost Leaf

Once a house, and today a bar/art gallery/music venue hybrid, Lost Leaf offers visitors the best of downtown Phoenix. It’s right in the middle of the arts district and there’s live music or DJs every night of the week, starting at 9. You can also enjoy some craft beer and check out the unique art gallery. If you’re interested in keeping up on local musicians and DJs, then this is the spot to be. Oh, and an added bonus: every performance is free!
