8 Breweries to Check Out in Phoenix

The Phoenix community is booming, which means there are lots of resources available when you live in an apartment or home in Phoenix. If you’re a craft beer enthusiast, one of your favorite resources might be the awesome breweries in the area. We’re certainly not here to judge. In fact, we appreciate the local Phoenix brews too– check out eight of our favorites in the list below.

1. State 48 Brewery

If you like to relax at a brewery before or after a concert, State 48 Brewery might become your new favorite spot. It’s right between Crescent Ballroom and The Van Buren downtown, which makes a convenient stop when you’re out for some music. Grab some food while you’re there– the brisket sandwich and beer cheeseburger are both big hits.

2. SanTan Brewing Company

Beer isn’t just for breakfast anymore, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a cold pint along with brunch at SanTan Brewing Company. They serve breakfast from 8:00 am to 10:45 am Friday through Sunday. During those times, you can enjoy some draft beer offerings for only $4. If you prefer other classic morning drinks to go with your first meal of the day, enjoy their signature vodka in a cocktail. Some of their most popular food includes wings, pork enchiladas, and burgers.

3. Huss Brewing Co.

Friendly service and reasonable prices are only part of the complete package you’ll get at Huss Brewing Co. They offer a wide variety of beers from classic to inventive, so you might want to order a flight and try them all. Their food is a big hit too– some favorites include their monstrous pile of nachos or a bacon-wrapped hot dog.

4. Sunup Brewing

This is a hotspot for people who truly love great food and drink. Some of their most-loved beers include the Light Rail Cream Ale and their vanilla porter. The parmesan fries at Sunup Brewing get a lot of love, too– try them on the side of some sliders or a chicken fajita wrap. Their chili is hard to beat too, and you might want to come back over and over again until you can sample the whole menu.

5. Wren House Brewing

The atmosphere at Wren House has made it one of the most popular breweries in Phoenix. It encourages guests to focus on beer and friends, as there are no TVs to distract you. Instead, play some board games while you sip your beer and enjoy a good conversation. The vibe is simple, but the beers offer a complex flavor that will keep you coming back for more.

6. Helio Basin Brewing

The beers at Helio Basin are out of this world, and you’ll likely want to try a lot of them. If you do, you might need some food to keep yourself from getting out of sorts. Their cornbread is extremely popular, as are the steak sticks and mesquite honey chicken. Work off some of the calories with a vigorous game of foosball or ping pong before you go back for seconds.

7. Helton Brewing Company

Brian Helton has brewed thousands of batches of beer across more than 60 styles in his two decades in this industry, and now he’s unleashing his prowess in his own brewery. The welcoming taproom with long tables is an excellent place to sit for a good session and is contributing to this brewery’s increasing popularity. Depending on when you visit, you’ll find perfectly crafted beers of different varieties like Scotch Ale, pilsner, exotic IPAs, and even Helton’s Dark Munich Lager. Helton learned all about traditional beer in Cincinnati where he’s from, which allows him to bring classic brewing skills to Arizona.

8. North Mountain Brewing Company

North Mountain Brewing Company combines beer with a perfect pairing: live music. Many of the names of their brews even give nods to classic rock songs to help get you in just the right mood for some good tunes. The interior design is a work of art, as it’s comfortable enough to sit and eat a meal or stand up and nod your head to the live music. Outside of the live shows, it’s a perfect place to sit and have conversations with a small group. Come hungry so you can enjoy their awesome menu that includes some dessert options for pairing with a rich porter or stout.
