5 Exercises You Can Try in your Apartment

You’re settled into your new Phoenix apartment, you’ve followed all the decorating tips to make it look just right, and now it’s time to get back on the exercise routine. With the limited space in some apartment setups, it might be hard to find workouts you can do at home. Luckily, there are plenty of exercises you can do at home, even in small spaces. The best possible scenario is to find a Phoenix apartment with a gym, but try these five home exercise tips in the meantime.

1 – Planks

Planking was a viral internet fad a few years ago thanks to the social media plank challenge. Even when you’re not doing it for the likes, this exercise is excellent for strengthening your core and toning your abdomen. In other words, it’s a perfect way to prepare for showing off your summer body at the pool!

This functional exercise is easy to learn but difficult to hold, so it’s a good starting point if you want to feel the burn in a hurry. Hold your body stiff (like a plank) with your toes and hands on the floor. It’s important to keep your spine straight, so try to imagine a line all the way from your head to your heels. Hold your head up off of your chest and take deep breaths as you push back to straighten out your heels. Just focus on keeping your hips and spine straight, then hold as long as possible.

 2 – Pushups

This workout isn’t exactly the hottest new fat burning craze, but it’s a simple upper body exercise that’s been helping people build muscle for years. Keep your back straight, don’t let your chest touch the ground, and focus on doing as many perfect pushups as possible. A few slow pushups with great form are better than a big spurt of fast, sloppy pushes.

3 – Burpees

If pushups are too simple, try burpees! They’re a full body workout and don’t take much space. Burn fat and build muscle with the following simple steps:

  • From a standing position, go into a squat and place your hands on the ground in front of you.
  • Throw your feet back to land y
  • ourself in a nice straight plank position.
  • Quickly jump out of the plank position over. Keep it going as long as you can.
  • Put your arms up and juMP. so your feet are up near your hands again. mp as high as you can (just don’t take any lights out)!
  • As soon as you land, start over. Keep it going as long as you can.

 4 – Squats

Try these in front of a couch or chair if you need a benchmark for how low to perform squats, but don’t ever transfer your weight into a sit. Keep your feet about shoulder width 2apart, arms out, back straight– then repeatedly bend at the knees to move from the standing position into a sitting-like crouch.

5 – Jumping JacksThis classic exercise might not be the very most exciting, but it’s a good way to get cardio without leaving the apartment. Jumping Jacks are also perfect for quickly releasing pent up energy!
